| Jason Daves (Guitar, Vocals)- Got my first guitar when I was 15. Started playing punk/hard core in the band "God Scent" at age 16. We played through high school in various forms, and settled on a three piece named "abaisser" which lasted a number of years and produced one math rock/emo-esque album. The "control group" followed and lasted a year or so and was less math rock than "abaisser" and more cry-about-my-girlfriend-leaving- me music. I met up with Bob at work and formed the band "The Loose Nuts" with some other auto technicians. I never thought we'd last longer than the hangover at my birthday party, but more than two years later we're still going strong. We still have 3 mechanics in the band, but we are very lucky to have talented musicians and non-mechanics like Mike and Maureen with us to balance out the sound. I was born in Tyler, Texas 1975. I lived in Texas and Oklahoma before moving to Greeley, CO in 1986. If I had my choice, I would play music all the time. It has been the one consistant thread other than my family throughout my life. I have lived in the metro area for the last 5 years with the love of my life, my sun, my moon, my light Susan Graham. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Bob Hoffman (Bass, Guitar, Vocals) I was born in Hays, Kansas and moved to Colorado nearly twenty years ago. Music has been a great passion of mine for all of my life. Growing up going to small town dances, you always knew where to find me; I was the young boy sitting next to the stage watching the band. At age 9, I talked my mother into letting me play violin in the grade school orchestra. One year later, I was not only playing violin, but I had also joined the 5th grade band as a saxophone player. I played saxophone and violin through high school as well as sing in the choir. As if there wasn't enough on my plate all ready at the age of 13, I got my first guitar and started a new chapter of my musical life. With the influence of a very close friend, we started a band called "Destiny". I played in "Destiny" for three years as a guitar player. We played some class reunions and mostly keg-parties in rural Kansas where all of us would not get in too much trouble for underage drinking. After the break up "Destiny", I was approached by another friend, who is today our pedal steel guitar player Roger, to play in his father's polka band the "Herrmanettes". What a change from playing rock-n-roll to playing polkas and waltz's, not to mention that they told me they needed me to play bass guitar, and that I needed to be ready in two hours to play a wedding dance in Wichita! I loaded the bus and played my first wedding dance and played bass guitar for the very first time. I must have done ok, because I was asked back to be a regular. I took a nearly 20 year break from performing or even picking up an instrument, until one day at lunch Jason and I talked about getting the Loose Nuts group started and what an interesting ride it's been. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Maureen Hobbs Well, some call it violin; some call it a fiddle. Whatever it is, I like it.... I've been playing for 16 years--lots of orchestras and private lessons when I was younger and cooler, but the fiddle thing has been in the works for about seven. I played in my first band, Razzinaw Ride, at age 16--cool kids playing backyard parties and everywhere else we could get in. When I took off for college a couple years later, I did a few open mics and sat in for a few bands. I played with Alma Hovey Hayride for just over a year; that's where I started to really "fiddle around" with old blue grass and other traditional tunes. I wasn't familiar with any of it, so I made stuff up and people seemed to like it. Out here in Colorado, I played with Turn 4 in Greeley for a long time. They kick ass and I really miss them. It's too hard to get back without a car, though; Greeley is a long walk from Denver. So here I am with "The Loose Nuts" poking around in more music I don't know but am growing to like. I don't secretly hate anyone in the band, so that works, too, and I'll probably stick around for awhile...see you at the next show. | |||||||||||||||||||

| Roger Herman pictured above. He is an international man of mistery as he has not sent his bio in yet. He says his highschool nickname was "The Womb Stretcher". | |||||||||||||||||||
| Mike Naumann plays drums for The Loose Nuts, does all of our sound reinforcement and recording, plays guitar, piano, bass, harmonica, and sings. His hippie-music band World Echo (in which he plays guitar and sings) is obviously more important to him than we are, or he would have sent his bio in. If you want to read Mr. Naumann's bio, simply visit www.worldecho.org | |||||||||||||||||||
| William Davis was one of the founding members of the band. He loves nice guitars, fancy (pretty boy) liqour, and watching "What Not to Wear". He also has not sent in his bio. Will's version of the above, OK here's my bio, Yes I was there when it all started, God knows why. I hadn't picked up a guitar for 15 years. Bob found out I was going to buy one (A Gibson 185 Blues King). The next thing I knew, Jason hands me a cd and a folder full of country music and says "Here ya go, you're in a band now and practice is on Tuesday". I wasn't even sure if I liked country music. Any how, we played Jason's birthday party and one thing lead to another and I left the band for awhile. Now for Jason's other accusations. I will freely admit to liking "Pretty Boy" liqour, as he calls it, I enjoy drinking expensive Cognac IE: Remy-Martin Louis 13th and Remy-Martin Extra Perfection, both of which I own a bottle of. Next- Yes I have a thing for nice guitars. My wife calls it a sickness, but hey, I only own 8 of them. It's not a sickness until you own more than 20 right??? As for this watching "What Not to Wear" thing. Ok, it's true that I've seen it a few times, you know how it is; you come downstairs on a Saturday morning, get a cup of coffee and go sit down on the couch to watch some cartoons and there she is- clutching my remote and refusing to give me control until she finishes watching "her" programs. (note from the web master- William, this doesn't explain the "What Not to Wear" t-shirts and the "What Would Stacy and Clinton Say About That Outfit?" bumper sticker on your Volkswagon.) Okay, now that I'm done defending myself. I've lived in Colorado since 1966, went to Aurora/Denver public schools, and as Dad put it, hung out with the wrong crowd, started playing guitar when I was 18 and played until I was 27. Met and married my second wife and spent 16 of the best years of my life with her. I lost her to cancer in 2004, and it left a big hole in my life. So I returned to an old friend to help fill the gap, my guitar. Met another real fine woman (Sandy) and got married again, and here I am a Loose Nut in a country band and having a grand old time. |
